CULLOWHEE – Western Carolina University’s Office of Continuing and Professional Education is offering five weeks of unusual art projects through a Community Art Workshops series.
Participants will learn a new art form each week. The series of workshops will include classes focusing on Ikebana (the Japanese art form of arranging flowers), natural fabric dye, encaustic painting (otherwise known as hot wax painting), monotypes with natural materials, and gourd art.
The workshops begin Monday, Oct. 19, and run through Monday, Nov. 16. Classes will meet each Monday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in Room 150 of the John W. Bardo Fine and Performing Arts Center.
The fee, which covers all supplies, is $49 for students and $99 for all others.
