Press release from ArtScape:
(HENDERSONVILLE, NC, August 14, 2018) — Kids, grandparents, parents, and family members – the ArtScape Banner Adventure Contest is the family thing to do as summer wanes and school begins. New game-cards are now available at Hendersonville Visitor Center, 201 S. Main St., which explain how children and young people can earn a chance at monthly prizes by answering questions along the route of the ArtScape art banner exhibit in downtown Hendersonville and 7th Avenue Historic District. It’s a family-friendly adventure hunt, with prizes.
The game-card asks questions that direct kids to ten of the banners. Designed by Natalie Bennett, an artist exhibited in ArtScape 2018, the game creates a fun adventure in downtown Hendersonville and exposes kids to this popular and varied outdoor art exhibit. The completed card can be turned in at the Visitor Center or mailed or emailed to the address on the card. A drawing of the winning cards will be held at the end of each month.
“I wanted to create an adventure challenge for children and their families to enjoy while seeing the many different artists’ works – artists who live in Henderson County. Local businesses have stepped up to provide the monthly prizes. The rack cards are now available at the Visitor Center and downtown shops. The contest goes on through March.”
ArtScape 2018 is an outdoor exhibit of art on banners hung on posts along Hendersonville’s downtown streets and 7th Avenue Historic District. The banners show the work of 50 local artists.
The objective of ArtScape, a yearly juried exhibit of multi-media artwork by Henderson County artists, is to create an outdoor gallery experience making Hendersonville an exciting and unique art destination. The ArtScape Hendersonville committee formed as a result of collaboration between founding artist Costanza Knight, the Art League of Henderson County, the Arts Council of Henderson County, and Downtown Hendersonville, Inc. ArtScape Hendersonville received funding from the Community Foundation of Henderson County and Henderson County Tourism Development Authority.
