Asheville Art Museum to host Cherokee marketplace Event, June 4

Press release from Asheville Art Museum:

The Asheville Art Museum is excited to be a partner and host for the Authentically Cherokee Native Marketplace on Saturday, June 4 from 12:00 to 6:00 p.m. This event will showcase work by members of ONABEN, Sequoyah Fund and Authentically Cherokee, groups of contemporary Native American artists. These artists will not only sell their work, but will also demonstrate their processes. Admission to the Native Marketplace is free and community members are encouraged to participate, learn, support and shop. All sales go to the Cherokee artists.

The Asheville Art Museum has a history of honoring and preserving the tradition of Cherokee art, and supporting contemporary Cherokee artists is an integral part of this mission. The art of the Cherokee represents the longest tradition of art and creativity in Western North Carolina and the Museum exhibits some of these great works from their growing Cherokee art collection in an effort to celebrate this artistic heritage.
