Asheville Catholic School’s Lego League team placed among the top teams in the regional tournament on Saturday, Dec. 6, in South Carolina. This team received the official “Golden Ticket” and will advance directly to the State Championship Tournament in March 2015.
This is Asheville Catholic’s first robotic team and therefore is considered their “rookie” year. They competed against 12 other teams, most of which were veteran teams. Asheville Catholic’s team will not only advance to the state level, but also received the prestigious “Core Values Award.” This award recognizes a team that displays extraordinary enthusiasm and spirit, knows they can accomplish more together than they could as individuals, and shows each other and other teams respect at all times.
Team members include: Vincent Babcock – 4th grade, Tyler Gordon – 4th grade, Madelyn Beale – 6th grade, William David – 6th grade, Abbey Hamilton – 6th grade, Christina Hamilton – 6th grade, Ben Scott – 6th grade, and Henry Gibbs – 7th grade.
The state championship tournament will be held at River Bluff High School March 21, 2015.
