Announcement from Asheville City Schools:
Due to high wind chill, below freezing temperatures and the possibility of early morning icy roads, Asheville City Schools will be operating on a two-hour delay for all students, school staff, and central office staff tomorrow, Wednesday, January 30th. The late start will allow for temperatures to rise and give our bus drivers and high school students better visibility.
Buses will not be running on our designated “icy roads.” Historically, these roads are prone to ice over making it dangerous to safely travel on a school bus. A list of our “No Buses on Icy Roads” can be found on our website and has been posted on social media.
All other buses will be running their regular routes, just two hours later.
A grab and go breakfast will be available for students upon their arrival.
We will continue to monitor both local and national weather reports.
In the event of further changes, we will alert local media outlets as well as post delay and cancellation notifications on our district website, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram page.
