Asheville High School students and staff have been evacuated following an unspecified threat to the school, according to Asheville Schools Executive Director of Community Relations Charlie Glazener. An automatic call put out earlier this morning to parents and community members alerted residents that the school had been evacuated pending an investigation by the Asheville Police Department.

“These things happen,” says Glazener, “and we take them very seriously each time.” He adds that APD is on the scene investigating the situation.

Glazener declined to offer specifics on the nature of the threat, citing the police department’s ongoing investigation. Xpress will continue to follow this story as it develops.
