Asheville Parks & Recreation announces fall athletic programs

Asheville Parks & Recreation has a great lineup of athletic programs for this fall. It doesn’t matter if you’re an expert or a novice, a kid or an adult, we have something for everyone. Get off the couch and let’s play!

Youth basketball

For youth in kindergarten through 8th grade, and divisions by age group, so everyone gets to play! We’ve partnered with Black Mountain Parks & Recreation for our annual co-ed youth basketball league. Registration begins Sept. 27, practices begin Nov. 29 and games begin Jan. 8.  All teams will be created by a blind draw and each team will have one practice and one game per week. Cost for the season is only $10.

Youth basketball training

Need to brush up on your hoops skills to get ready for the league? This FREE program will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-7:30 p.m. Aug. 24 through Sept. 30. But you have to register, as limited spots are available.

Girls volleyball

Registration opens Sept. 1 for girls open play volleyball for ages 11 and up. The program is FREE and runs Oct. 12 through Nov. 23 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-7:30 pm. All equipment is provided, so all you have to do is concentrate on your awesome spike skills.

Adult flag football

A dual-gendered league with Upper, Middle and Lower divisions for all skill levels. Registration opens Sept. 24 and games will be played Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, October 2021 through February, 2022. Cost is $600 per team, plus $25 for each non-City of Asheville resident.

Adult basketball

Hoops time! This dual-gendered league with upper, middle, lower and new recreational division has a spot for everyone, whether you’re a star or just want to shoot some hoops. Registration opens Nov. 1 and games will be played Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, November 2021 through March  2022. Cost is $600 per team, plus $25 for each non-City of Asheville resident.
