Asheville Police arrest man on drug, gun charges

Press release from Asheville Police Department:

Asheville, NC (July 12, 2023): Asheville Police Department Officers Detectives were following up with community complaints in north Asheville near Montford Avenue when they caught 21-year-old Taighee Christopher McSwain with fentanyl and a 9mm pistol.

McSwain was charged by an Officer working with the investigators with the following:

Seized:

-Sig Sauer P320 pistol (9mm)

-4.56g of fentanyl

-19DU of oxycodone

Arrested:

Taighee Christopher McSwain (11/3/2001)

-Trafficking in Opium or Heroin by Possession

-Trafficking in Opium or Heroin by Transport

-Possession with Intent to Sell/Distribute Sch. II x2

-Simple Possess Sch. VI

-Possess Drug Paraphernalia

-Resist / Delay / Obstruct

McSwain was brought to the Buncombe County Detention Facility and released under a 75,000 secured bond (or 7,500  to a bondsman) issued by the magistrate. Detectives are asking anyone who may have information about gun or drug crimes to send an anonymous tip by texting TIP2APD to 847411.
