Asheville police arrest two juveniles on gun charges

Press release from Asheville Police Department:

Asheville, NC (August 23, 2024): Asheville Police Department detectives and officers arrested two juveniles on gun charges while addressing violent crime Thursday evening in an Asheville apartment complex.

Following a thorough and lengthy investigation, detectives and officers attempted to make contact with two juveniles in the Hillcrest Apartments around 6:14 p.m. on August 22nd. As units approached, the juveniles initially attempted to evade officers on foot. Both juveniles were located and apprehended without incident in nearby apartments. During the arrests, they were found to be in possession of 3 guns, a trafficking amount of fentanyl, and a large amount of cash.

Seized:

-Watchdog Tactical WD-15 AR pistol

-Glock 19 pistol with full-auto switch kit

-S&W SD40VE pistol

-12g of fentanyl

-$7,123

Asheville Police worked with the Department of Juvenile Justice to levy the charges.

-Trafficking in Opium or Heroin by Possession

-Possession With Intent to Sell or Deliver Schedule II

-Possession of Handgun by a Minor

-Possession of a Weapon of Mass Destruction

-Possession of Handgun by a Minor

-Resist, Delay, Obstruct

 Note:  The name of the arrestee will not be listed because of being a juvenile. The juveniles have been turned over to the custody of the Department of Juvenile Justice.
