Update in Hit and Run suspect vehicle
Asheville Police have identified the vehicle involved in a hit and run that took place on Sunday, Nov. 20 at approximately 2:24 a.m. as a silver Saturn Vue model years 2002-2007. The vehicle would be similar to the vehicle in the picture above. The vehicle may have right front fender and bumper missing as a result of the collision. Anyone with information is asked to call Asheville Police at 828-252-1110 or Buncombe County Crimestoppers at 828-255-5050.
On Sunday, Nov. 20, 2016 at approximately 2:24 a.m. Asheville Police responded to a motor vehicle collision on US 25 below the I-40 bridge. Jared Anthony Leyva, 22, of Black Mountain, was traveling southbound on US 25 on a bicycle when he was struck from behind. The Saturn did not remain at the scene. Leyva was transported to Mission Hospital where he was last listed in critical condition.
