Asheville rises 118 places in 2023 Milken Institute’s Best-Performing Cities Index

Press release from Milken Institute:

Asheville rose 1118 places in the Milken 2023 Best-Performing Cities Index, ranking 47th in the nation. The revitalization of its leisure and hospitality sector drove Asheville’s rise in this year’s Index.

The Index reflects 12 indicators of economic growth and access to opportunities, including jobs, wages, high-tech growth, housing affordability, and household broadband access in its rankings. The index evaluates the performance of 403 metro areas across the country during what is considered the first full year of recovery following the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. In this shifting economic and societal landscape, the BPC rankings help provide an objective framework to evaluate the performance of US cities.
