Asheville School junior named state pole vault champion

From the press release from Asheville School:

Asheville School junior Will DuBose (Columbia, SC) was named Boys’ Pole Vault State Champion in the NCISAA 3A track meet at Charlotte Country Day School on Friday, May 19.

DuBose cleared 12 feet, 6 inches to claim victory, and tie the Asheville School record (for the second time this year) that was set in 1994 by Michael Jones, Class of 1994. The Blues boys’ team finished 6th overall in the Championships this season.

“Will put in an incredible amount of time training on campus and at a local gymnastics venue this spring,” said Asheville School Athletic Director Chapman Kern. “His dedication to vaulting is outstanding and we were so pleased to see the fruits of his hard work at the NCISAA 3A Track Championships. Will plans to dedicate even more time to vaulting next winter and spring and we are optimistic that his achievements for the Blues track teams will continue.”
