Asheville Area Homebuilders Association/Builders Association of the Blue Ridge Mountains will also announce their support through a blitz build which will take place in August. Attendees can take tours of the Village with six homes standing and the 7th home just getting under way and will also have an opportunity to eat from BeLoved’s new food truck, La Cocina de Mama/Mama’s Kitchen.

“We are thrilled to have been chosen for a Lowe’s Hometowns grant. To be selected from a national pool of applicants for this grant focused on strengthening communities is such an honor. We join Lowe’s in believing that our local communities are the heartbeat of our nation. We know that for too many the dream of having a home in the community where they live and work that is deeply affordable and safe is out of reach for too many. That is why we are proud to have piloted a new model solution here in Asheville created by people who are directly impacted by the housing crisis. To be supported by Lowe’s in this way is incredibly transformative,” says Amy Cantrell, BeLoved Asheville Co-Director.

BeLoved Asheville, a local non-profit organization with a mission is to create home, health, equity and opportunity for all in our mountain home.

“The BeLoved Village is a housing solution for people on fixed incomes trying to stay in our local community including our elders, people without homes, people of color being gentrified out of our community, working poor families, and workers who don’t make enough to afford housing in the community in which they work,” says Amy Cantrell. “It takes a village to raise a village and we are so amazed at the thousands of people in our community who are being the change by helping to solve the housing crisis.  From professionals to children, from retirees to companies, people are coming together to share their skills and gifts to make sure that local people can come home! We are grateful to Lowe’s Hometowns for supporting this amazing community effort.”
