Bent Creek River Park, located at 1610 Brevard Road in Asheville, will close for up to six weeks beginning Monday, Jan. 27, as Dominion Energy replaces a natural gas line.
“Buncombe County is proud to offer river access at seven parks along the French Broad,” said Josh O’Conner, Director of Buncombe County Recreation Services. “Since Bent Creek is one of the most popular spots for kayakers and tubers to put in, we worked with Dominion Energy to schedule the closure during the slowest time as possible for visitation.”
Hominy Creek, Glen Bridge, and Corcoran Paige remain open during this time with river access. (For information and locations, visit our River Parks page.) Bent Creek Experimental Forest is located nearby with public access to trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. The Mountains-to-Sea Trail can also be accessed less than a mile away at Blue Ridge Parkway Mile Marker 18.

Dominion Energy North Carolina will begin the replacement of a natural gas line along Brevard Road at the Blue Ridge Parkway in Asheville, N.C. beginning Monday, January 27. To ensure the safety of employees and residents, Bent Creek River Park will be closed for up to six weeks while construction activities take place.
As the regulated natural gas provider in the area, our responsibility is to ensure system reliability and safety in compliance with regulations, and this project is a part of that. We apologize for inconvenience and will work diligently to complete the project in a timely manner, weather permitting.
