Press release from Blue Ridge Community College
Blue Ridge Community College joined with University of North Carolina Asheville in summer 2021 to sign a second articulation agreement, following the 2019 signing of a direct admission agreement. This additional agreement articulates a smooth transition for students interested in earning an associate of applied science in accounting and business administration at Blue Ridge, then transferring to UNC Asheville to earn their bachelor’s degree in management or accountancy.
“This new agreement provides a clear path for our students interested in pursuing these high-demand careers,” Blue Ridge Community College president Dr. Laura Leatherwood stated. “And since UNC Asheville is so close to home for a large portion of our students, that makes the decision to transfer that much simpler.”
Blue Ridge’s accounting programs are available fully online or students may take in-person classes on the Henderson County Campus. Several of the business administration pathways at Blue Ridge are also available in both formats. Registration for fall semester is open now through August 12. You can learn more about Blue Ridge’s accounting and business administration programs here.
UNC Asheville vice chancellor for admission and financial aid Kortni R. Campbell added, “We are excited to expand our partnership with Blue Ridge Community College. This type of collaboration highlights the power of continuing education to positively impact both students and the vitality of this region.”
UNC Asheville’s management and accountancy department is accredited by AACSB International – The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. AACSB accreditation is the hallmark of excellence in business education, and has been earned by less than 5 percent of the world’s business schools. Students majoring in management or accounting at UNC Asheville are encouraged to participate in high-impact experiences to develop an appreciation for diversity and inclusion, a strong sense of ethics and social responsibility and an awareness of the importance of globalization. From project-based internships and rigorous undergraduate research projects to an engaging faculty-led study abroad program and a hands-on consulting practicum, the faculty and students work collaboratively in our local, regional, national and global communities to create meaningful relationships and innovative contributions to public, nonprofit and for-profit sectors.
