Brevard College and The College Foundation of NC hosts college financial aid workshop Jan. 14

Press release:

Brevard College’s Financial Aid Office and The College Foundation of North Carolina (CFNC) will hold a free college financial aid workshop on Tuesday, Jan. 14 at the Porter Center for Performing Arts.

The workshop, which will begin at 6 p.m., is free and open to all Transylvania County students and their parents or to others wanting to know more about the financial aid process.

Laura Misner of CFNC will lead the workshop. Misner will talk about financial aid basics, college costs, how to apply for financial aid, determining aid eligibility and scholarships, grants, loans and work-study. Misner will also discuss free CNFC tools and materials as well as how to avoid financial aid scams.

Caron Surrett and Jeni Smith, Financial Aid administrators from Brevard College, will also be on hand to answer specific financial aid questions.

Anyone who can’t attend the workshop can learn about planning, applying and paying for college by visiting CFNC.org or by calling toll-free (866) 866-CFNC to talk with a telephone representative.

Brevard College will also be hosting an area FAFSA Day on February 22. Parents and students can bring in their tax information and a financial aid expert will assist them in filing their FAFSA online.
