Brother Wolf Animal Rescue Launches Building Campaign
Asheville, N.C. – On February 15, 2012, Brother Wolf Animal Rescue (BWAR) launched a building campaign with the goal of raising $390,000 to purchase the building they currently rent at 31 Glendale Avenue, a home to over 100 orphaned animals who are waiting for their forever families. BWAR is asking the community to help them raise $75,000 by May 31, 2012 to complete their down payment.
BWAR has already been awarded $75,000 towards their down payment of $150,000. In July of 2011, BWAR launched a social media campaign to engage their supporters to vote for them in the Pepsi Refresh Project and was awarded a $50,000 grant. In addition, BWAR won another online voting contest in November of 2011, which resulted in a $25,000 donation from Chase Community Giving.
Since opening the doors of their adoption center and shelter in June of 2009, BWAR has found homes for more than 4,500 orphaned cats and dogs, kittens and puppies who were given a second chance at life. In 2011 alone, BWAR placed over 2,600 animals into loving homes. This building will provide BWAR with a permanent home to continue their mission of building a humane community where no animal is euthanized for lack of a home.
“Our community needs and wants a permanent No Kill adoption center and shelter,” says Denise Bitz, Executive Director and founder of BWAR. “Every community that is working to become No Kill needs a space to help care for the many orphaned animals who have nowhere else to go. In order to make our community a humane place for animals and the people who care about them, we need to work together with the open admission shelters, who alone simply can not care for the thousands of animals who come through their doors every year. It is truly a collaborative effort.”
Quita Mazzina, Executive Director of the Humane Alliance Spay/Neuter Clinic says, “It is a privilege to live and work in an area where the efforts of so many people and organizations reflect a deep commitment to build a community where every animal has a safe place to live. BWAR has always demonstrated a strategic resolve to effect change and improve animals’ lives.”
With more than 2,000 volunteers and an adoption center that is open 365 days a year, BWAR is an example of the amazing impact a group of people can have when they place the welfare of the animals they care for at the forefront. Not only is BWAR a safe haven for animals in need, it’s also a place where people can feel great about volunteering. BWAR is a resource to civic groups, businesses, and students seeking service hours, as well as countless children who learn how to be kind to animals. BWAR also offers free spay and neuter, vaccinations, pet food, and training advice to help keep animals in their homes, in hopes that they will never need their sheltering services.
I doubt they’ll get much of anything for $400.
Doh! Thanks for bringing that to my attention. I must have forgotten the very important ‘k’ portion of that headline. Thank you!
