#Build828, affordable housing giving campaign, Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity

Press release from Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity:

Residents who are new to the Asheville area and those who have lived in the Blue Ridge Mountains for generations have something in common- they know that many people here struggle to afford a decent place to live. With few left untouched by the effects of the affordable housing crisis, local residents and businesses are rallying around Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity’s #Build828 Day on Wednesday 8/28.

#Build828 is a monthly giving club to support Asheville Habitat’s work of building and repairing affordable housing in Buncombe County. Its members will be building new, affordable homes at Asheville Habitat’s jobsite, Curry Court in Candler, on what better day than Wednesday 8/28. Local businesses know that when their staff struggle for decent, affordable housing, it affects their business. That’s why a group of local businesses have come together to donate a portion of their sales to Asheville Habitat’s Homeownership and Home Repair programs. Everyday purchases like getting a massage or buying an ice cream are easy ways for everyone to get involved and make an impact in their community.

For a $10 monthly donation, #build828 members get perks like a tote bag and 40% off ReStore coupon, as well as the good feeling you get in building a stronger, more diverse community where everyone has the chance to thrive. Every donation makes an impact, going directly towards building new houses so local families can own a home, and repairing existing homes so longtime residents are not priced out of their communities. Everyone deserves a decent, affordable place to live and everyone can do something to help make that possible for more of our neighbors. Those interested can learn more and join today.
