From Building Bridges of Asheville:
42nd Session of Building Bridges Set Sept. 10 – Nov. 5
Building Bridges of Asheville has announced its 42nd session, beginning September 10 and continuing through November 5. The nine-week program will be held on Tuesdays from 7 to 9 pm at First Congregational Church UCC, 20 Oak Street, in downtown Asheville.
The program offers speakers and films on topics related to race relations, small group dialogues, and a call to action. It is open to the public for a $30 fee, which includes cost of materials. A special discount is offered to public school teachers. Additionally, Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are available for educators, clergy, healthcare practitioners, and others. A Community Potluck concludes the session.
Building Bridges has offered this groundbreaking program for WNC residents and the Greater Asheville area twice a year for the past 20 years. The organization’s mission is to enable participants to confront and overcome racism through a continuing process of changing attitudes and hearts through education, consciousness-raising, nurturing, and ongoing support.
The first hour of each meeting, prior to the small group dialogues, is open to the public at no charge.
