Buncombe County operational schedule for July 4

On Tuesday, July 4, all Buncombe County administrative offices will be closed in observance of the Independence Day holiday. Offices will be open on their regular schedule on Monday, July 3.

On Tuesday, July 4, the night sky will ignite with a barrage of color, light, and sound over Lake Julian Park (37 Lake Julian Road) as the annual fireworks display takes place to celebrate Independence Day. Buncombe County friends, neighbors, and guests are invited to enjoy the spectacle just after dark from the banks of the lake on blankets and lawn chairs. Find more information here.

The Buncombe County Parking Garage located at 164 College St. will be closed all day on Tuesday, July 4 for the Ingles Independence Day celebration firework display taking place in Pack Square. The deck will not be accessible for daily or monthly customers during this time. The parking garage will reopen at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, July 5.

Buncombe County Animal Shelter

The Buncombe County Animal Shelter will be closed Tuesday, July 4. Please note the Animal Shelter does not operate the same hours as the Adoption Center. The animal shelter is closed on Sundays and all recognized Buncombe County holidays. On holidays, the shelter runs an emergency schedule, opening for 15 minutes only at 9 a.m., noon, and 3 p.m.

Buncombe County Board of Elections

Administrative offices will be closed Tuesday, July 4.

Buncombe County Courthouse

Buncombe County courts observe the North Carolina Judicial Branch holiday schedule and will be closed Tuesday, July 4.

Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office

Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office front desk will be closed Tuesday, July 4. All other operations will be on a normal schedule.

Emergency Services & Public Safety Communications

Administrative offices will be closed Tuesday, July 4. EMS and 911 will maintain normal operations.

Family Justice Center

The Family Justice Center will be closed Tuesday, July 4. You can find 24-hour hotline information on our website.

Health & Human Services

All BCHHS services will be closed Tuesday, July 4.

ID Bureau

The Identification Bureau at 52 Coxe Ave. will be closed Tuesday, July 4.

Mountain Mobility

Mountain Mobility will only be offering ADA paratransit service on Tuesday, July 4.

Parks & Recreation

Parks & Recreation administrative offices are closed Tuesday, July 4. All Buncombe County public parks and pools are open on their regular schedules. The annual fireworks celebration will take place at Lake Julian Park; please check here for more information before heading out.

Public Libraries

All Buncombe County Public Libraries will be closed Tuesday, July 4. Our libraries are regularly closed on Sundays and Mondays. The digital library is always available at buncombecounty.org/library.

Register of Deeds

The Buncombe County Register of Deeds Office will be closed Tuesday, July 4. Online services will remain available.

Solid Waste

The Landfill and Transfer Station are closed on Tuesday, July 4.

Tax Collections/Property Assessment

Administrative offices will be closed Tuesday, July 4.

Waste Pro
Waste Pro will operate on a normal schedule for Monday, July 3, and there will be no trash/recycling collection on Tuesday, July 4. Tuesday collections will take place on Wednesday, Wednesday on Thursday and so on for the rest of the week. Friday collections will take place on Saturday.
