Buncombe County Schools plans return to in-person learning Sept. 28

Press release from Buncombe County Schools:

Here’s a look at tonight’s BCS Board Briefing for Sept. 10.

Among the important topics covered at that meeting, the Board of Education voted on a Return to Learn plan for the remainder of the semester. Those details are below:

ALL students (K-13) will return to the classroom for in-person learning on an A/B Rotation on Monday, Sept. 28, through the end of the semester.

Please note, this A/B rotation schedule will be slightly different from our onboarding schedule, but students who were designated A students during the onboarding weeks will remain A students, and B students will remain B students. Please reach out to your principal with any concerns or questions.

  • K-13 students in Group A will attend class on Monday and Tuesday.
  • K-13 students in Group B will attend class on Thursday and Friday.
  • Wednesday will be a remote, independent learning day allowing time for deep cleaning of our school buildings.

Classes start at 8 a.m., and each day will be a 1-hour early dismissal.

*This Return to Learn Plan does NOT apply to families who have already committed to our remote-only option for the remainder of the semester.

*We will follow up with High School families with further information regarding the class change schedule during this timeframe.

*Students in Grade 13 are our Buncombe County Early College students.
