Buncombe County shows lowest unemployment rate in state, according to Dept. of Commerce

A news release from the North Carolina Department of Commerce’s Labor and Economic Analysis Division shows an unemployment rate (not seasonally adjusted) decrease in 86 of the state’s counties for August 2015.

Within the report, Buncombe County was ranked first in the state for having lowest absolute unemployment rate, showing a 4.6 percent unemployment rate, compared to 4.8 percent in the previous month and 4.9 percent in August 2014.

The Asheville metropolitan area’s unemployment rate (also ranked first in the state among metro areas) decreased from 5 percent in July 2015 to 4.8 percent in August 2015. In August 2014, the figure was at 5.1 percent.

Overall, North Carolina’s unemployment rate for August 2015 was 6.1 percent.
