At their March monthly social, the Buncombe County Young Republicans will host all declared–and some still considering–Republican candidates for Buncombe County elected office.
Unlike typical candidate forums, Young Republicans will introduce their new vetting process; the “Buncombe County Ringer.” The Buncombe County Ringer is a three-question quiz session which will involve questions about local beer, local history and local politics. The ‘ringer’ will be somewhat of a cross between Jeopardy and NPR’s Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me!’s “Not My Job.” Candidates earning two or more correct answers will receive a conservative prize like an autographed constitution and those with two or more incorrect answers will receive progressive parting gifts like podcasts of Local Edge Radio.
The social will take place on Thursday, March 1, at Magnolia’s restaurant in downtown Asheville and will begin at 7 p.m. All Buncombe County Republicans are welcomed to attend.
No Republicans have filed for the 1st County Commission District or RSVP’d for the social. Bob Knapp, candidate for the 3rd District, is unable to attend.
Republicans between the ages of 18 and 40 who live in Buncombe, Henderson, Transylvania, Haywood and Madison counties are eligible for club membership.

“Candidates earning two or more correct answers will receive a conservative prize like an autographed constitution…”
Autographed by who, exactly? And does an ‘autograph’ make it a ‘conservative prize’?
Republicans can be so much funnier than they’re given credit. Why, this is a hoot!
Conservative socializing socialists with their autographs. Phooey.
At the risk of seeming insensitive, these Young Republicans might want to get whatever they can with Andrew Breitbart’s signature on it as the top prize since it was just announced he died at the age of 43.
If the prize was a Constitution signed by Andrew Breitbart, even I would run for Congress.
…………………
It would be hard to think of a better person to sign the Constitution than someone who purposely doctored a video in an effort (successful initially) to destroy someone’s political career due to ideological differences. Yessirree, he really epitomized American values alright.
Go ahead and run for Congress anyway; we could use the levity.
