Statement from the campaign of Nancy Nehls Nelson:
It is with deep sadness we announce that Curtis Griffith Nelson, husband of Nancy Nehls Nelson, passed away on September 29th from complications from Post-Polio Syndrome and pneumonia at CarePartner’s Solace Center in Asheville, surrounded by his community of family and friends and dogs. He was 82 years old.
Curtis was a longtime Weaverville resident and a talented potter with sharp wit and gentle spirit. A full obituary will follow in local press. Nancy’s campaign staff and many volunteers will continue to guide her campaign for District 2 County Commission while she is with family and close friends. Her scheduled campaign events may be covered by surrogates as necessary, and further updates will be posted on the campaign website <http://www.electnancynehlsnelson.org/> and on Facebook <http://www.facebook.com/electnancynehlsnelson>.
“I have an incredible team of people around me, so the campaign is in good hands while I am temporarily away,” said Nancy. “Curtis supported me every step of the way in my campaign, and I plan to make him proud.”
