‘Canes executives visit Western North Carolina

RALEIGH, NC – Amy Daniels, Executive Director of the Carolina Hurricanes Foundation, today announced that a group of team staff traveled to Western North Carolina on Wednesday and Thursday, visiting with a number of the organizations who are benefiting from the $1 million the team raised for Hurricane Helene relief this season.

Daniels was joined by Hurricanes Alumni and Director of Youth Hockey/Community Outreach Shane Willis, General Counsel Nigel Wheeler, Team Mascot Stormy and additional team staffers. The group visited gift recipients including Equal Plates Project, Only Hope Western North Carolina, MANNA FoodBank, Canton All Abilities Playground, Ray Cort Park, Wade Tipton Field, Valle Crucis Community Park and Hunger and Health Coalition.

The Hurricanes raised money for Hurricane Helene relief since September, via a community preseason game, special auctions, the “Raise Up $1 Million Raffle” and additional special events. Additional gift recipients have included the Asheville Hockey League, the Children’s Council of Watauga County and Shultz Circle Park.
