Here’s the message from Tammy Brown at Cataloochee Ski Area:
Spring has arrived in Maggie Valley and with it after 110 days of skiing and riding, comes the end of our 51st season here at Cataloochee. Its been a great year for us here at the area and even with our challenging weather this season, the millions of dollars we have invested over the last several years in snowmaking and snowmaking capacity has allowed us to stay the course and end our season, skiing top to bottom on 75% of the mountain. As with each season, we typically see more snow left on the hill than skiers, so with the rain and spring storms in the forecast for all but 2 days of the coming week – we have come to this decision.
Thank you to each of you, for your kindnesses, support and promotion of our area as we continue to strive to improve our services and the guest experience each year. Thank you on a personal note for your friendships and support each season – you guys are a great group and I appreciate knowing each of you!
Don’t forget, come November 1….and only 326,880 minutes…count on Cataloochee to begin snowmaking and the start of the 2012/13 season…
and yes…we are counting!
Have a great spring and summer! See you in the fall…
