Press release from Buncombe County:
In March 2023, following the results of an initial evaluation of several County-owned properties, the County Commissioners selected three sites to prioritize for affordable housing: 30-80 Valley Street, 50-52 Coxe Avenue, 180 Erwin Hills Road (portion).
“We want to understand the specific public interest at each site and within these neighborhoods. We hope the community will chime in to provide input, refine draft site priorities, and ultimately shape the potential projects,” says Cable.
The County has partnered with UNC School of Government’s Development Finance Initiative (DFI) to help meet the goal of working with qualified private developers to create at least 1,500 affordable rental units for low- and moderate-income households by 2030.
