Press release from Chimney Rock State Park:

Chimney Rock at Chimney Rock State Park Annual Passholders can enjoy sunset views, specially- crafted beers and gourmet appetizers at Views and Brews on Saturday, June 2, from 7-9 p.m.

Hickory Nut Gorge Brewery will release Higher Ground Huckleberry American Wheat Beer during the event. The beer was inspired by the breathtaking views of the Gorge that can only be seen from the top of Chimney Rock.

“We used regionally-sourced huckleberries to give this beer a light yellowish/purple color similar to those seen at dusk,” said Hickory Nut Gorge Brewery Brewer Matt Karg. “With this beer, we really wanted to catch the essence of summer and the beauty of the Gorge.”

The new release and a few of the brewery’s flagship beers will be paired with bison sliders, teriyaki chicken skewers, bacon-wrapped shrimp, stuffed mushrooms and mini fruit tarts prepared by Chimney Rock Catering.

“This menu was created to compliment the flavors featured in Higher Ground and the other beers being served,” said Chimney Rock Catering Chef Randall Spencer. “These dishes are the perfect pairing for the beers being served.”

Alongside gorgeous views of Lake Lure and the sun setting  in  Hickory Nut Gorge, guests can visit with a few of the Park’s nocturnal animal ambassadors and hike to the top of the Chimney for an even better view.

Passholders can register for Views and Brews at chimneyrockpark.com until Thursday, May 31, at 5 p.m. Cost to attend is $20. Individuals interested in attending Views and Brews who are not passholders can become passholders at chimneyrockpark.com.

Annual passholders are invited to special events like Views and Brews, an Annual Sunrise Breakfast and Llamapalooza. They also enjoy endless Park visits as well as discounts at regional attractions.
