Citizen-Times: APD officers shoots, kills break-in suspect

From the Asheville Citizen-Times:

ASHEVILLE — Police have closed a section of New Leicester Highway following a break-in and officer-involved shooting that claimed the suspect’s life this morning.

After a break-in was reported at about 7:30 this morning at a residence near the Meadows Apartments, an Asheville officer chased the suspect on foot, Asheville police chief William Anderson said at the scene.

The officer shot and killed the male suspect after shots were fired that did not come from the officer, Anderson said. No one else was injured, and no other suspects are at large, the chief said.
