Asheville City government offices will be closed Monday, May 29, in observance of the Memorial Day holiday.
Though City offices will be closed, Sanitation Services will run on schedule. Trash and recycling will be collected as normal on May 29.
ART bus service
The City of Asheville ART service routes and facilities will operate on a reduced holiday schedule May 29 (see schedule below). The Memorial Day holiday is one of six holidays throughout the calendar year that ART offers bus service. For route info, visit RidetheART.com.
Memorial Day Ceremony and Concert
The City of Asheville Mayor’s Committee for Veterans Affairs will host its annual Memorial Day Concert and Ceremony on the Roger McGuire Green stage of Pack Square Park starting at 2:30 p.m. May 29. Mayor Esther Manheimer will participate in the observance. Find information about that ceremony here.
Parks and the USCC
All City of Asheville Parks and Recreation Department recreation centers will be closed. The following specialized recreation facilities will be open: City parks, the Riverside Cemetery, Asheville Golf Course, Asheville Skate Park, Aston Park Tennis Center and the Western North Carolina Nature Center. All three City of Asheville swimming pools are scheduled to open June 10 this year.
Splasheville, the popular water feature in Pack Square Park, will be open regular operating hours May 27 and 28, but will not open until 5:30 p.m. on May 29 because of the Asheville-Buncombe Memorial Day Ceremony. Regular operating hours for Splasheville are 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. daily.
The U.S. Cellular Center will be open Friday and Sunday but closed on Memorial Day, May 29. Ticket purchases can still be made through TicketMaster.
Emergency response and water-related issues
Water Resources staff will be available for water-related emergencies 24 hours a day over the holiday weekend. Customers can call the customer service line at 828-251-1122 to report water related emergencies, leaks, breaks, and no water calls.
All public safety services, including police, fire and emergency response, will operate according to normal schedule — 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
