City of Asheville offices will be closed June 19, in observance of the Juneteenth holiday

Press release from the City of Asheville:

City of Asheville offices will be closed on Wednesday, June 19 in observance of the Juneteenth holiday. Regular office hours will resume on Thursday, June 20. See the City’s active services and schedules below.

ART bus service:

Asheville Rides Transit (ART) holiday schedule will run on a Sunday schedule.

If you haven’t already, we invite you to download the Transit app to your smart device, to help plan your trip for better efficiency. Visit the City of Asheville Transit webpage for more information or stop by the ART Transit Center, 49 Coxe Ave.

Trash and recycling:

Trash, recycling, and brush collection will run on a normal schedule Wednesday, June 19th and Thursday, June 20th, 2024. The Sanitation Office will be closed Wednesday in observance of Juneteenth. Find your trash pick up schedule here.

Asheville Parks & Recreation:

City parks and greenways are open on a regular schedule, 6 a.m.-10 p.m.

Splasheville, the free splash fountain in Pack Square Park, is open from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Pools at Recreation Park and Dr. Wesley Grant Sr. Southside Community Center are open from 12-6 p.m.

Community center buildings and administrative offices are closed. If a community center is surrounded by or adjacent to a park, outdoor amenities such as sports courts, fields, playgrounds, and picnic shelters are open from 6 a.m.-10 p.m.

Riverside Cemetery offices are closed, though the cemetery is open until 8:00 p.m.

The City is proud to partner with the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Association of Asheville-Buncombe County to present a Juneteenth Lunch and Learn Series across several of our community centers, beginning on Monday, June 17, with different sessions happening the following Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Regional Entertainment Facilities:

The Harrah’s Cherokee Center – Asheville will be closed on Wednesday, June 19, 2023. The HCCA Box Office summer hours are Tuesday – Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

Asheville Municipal Golf Course will operate at regular hours.

WNC Nature Center will be open on Wednesday, June 19, 2023.

Water:

Water Resources staff will be available for water related emergencies 24 hours a day.  Customers can call the customer service line at 828-251-1122 to report water related emergencies, leaks, breaks and no water calls.

Emergency services:

All public safety services, including police, fire and emergency response, will operate to normal schedule – 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
