City of Asheville offices closed Dec. 24-26, Jan. 1

Full announcement from the city of Asheville:

ASHEVILLE – Asheville city government offices will be closed Dec. 24, 25, 26 and Jan. 1.

Garbage and recycling service will be suspended, Wednesday, Dec. 25 for the Christmas holiday.
Wednesday trash and recycling (“B” week) customers will receive collection on Thursday, Dec. 26.
Thursday trash and recycling (“B” week) customers will receive collection on Friday, Dec. 27.

Residents are asked to have both trash and recycling out by 7 a.m. for collection.

Asheville’s ART (Asheville Redefines Transit) routes and facilities will close after 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday December 24th, all day on Wednesday December 25th, and provide holiday service on New Year’s Day, January 1st, 2014.

On Monday, December 24th the last departing bus for each route leaving from the ART Station are:

Route S3 – 4:00 pm
Route C – 4:30 pm
Route S4 – 5:35 pm
Routes N, N2, E1, E2, W2 – 5:30 pm
Route S2 – 5:40 pm
Route N1, S1, W1, W3
Route N – 5:14 pm
RouteW4 – 5:20 pm
Route N3 – 6:00 pm
Route 170 – 5:00 pm (Last Black Mountain trip at noon)

ART will resume regular service Thursday Dec. 26. For route and schedule information, go to ridetheart.com.

The Asheville Municipal Golf Course and the Food Lion Skate Park will be closed Dec 25.

The Western North Carolina Nature Center will be closed Dec. 24, 25 and Jan. 1. For hours of operation and other information about the WNC Nature Center visit http://wncnaturecenter.com/.

All recreation centers will be closed on Dec 24, 25, 26 and Jan 1.

All public safety services, including police, fire and emergency response, will operate according to normal schedule – 24 hours a day, seven days a week – during the holiday.

Water Resources is responding to emergencies involving water service or leaks throughout the holiday. Emergencies can be reported by calling the Customer Service number (828 251-1122), by text (828 777-4139) or by email (waterdutyofficer@ashevillenc.gov).
