Construction Career Day to be held at Haywood County Fairgrounds

Press release from Mountain Area Workforce Development Board: 

Construction Career Day will take place tomorrow, Tuesday and Wednesday, October 15 and 16th at the Haywood County Fairgrounds, located at 758 Crabtree Road, Waynesville, NC 28785.  The goals of the event are to raise awareness of the industry’s numerous careers and show the benefits and career mobility that exists within the industry; connect with local talent to focus on recruitment and retention; and promote the current job openings in the industry.

Construction Career Day is being presented by Vannoy Construction and is sponsored by the Mountain Area Workforce Development Board, Builders First Sources, DH Griffin Wrecking Company, Emory Electric. MB Haynes, South College, SteelFab, Inc, Tennoca Construction Company, Carolinas AGC, Harrison Construction, NCDOT Division 14, Tile-IT, Incorporated, AB Tech, Ed Holmes Surveying, HFK Corporation, Oldcastle Construction, Owle Construction, Inc., Shoffner Katholff MES, Inc., TP Howard’s Plumbing, and TSA Choice,  The free event will connect local employers offering construction career opportunities with job seekers.

Activities will begin at 9:00 am for high school students and end at 1:00 pm and this time slot is closed to the general public.  On Tuesday, October 15th, from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm, the event will be open to post-secondary students and the general public wishing to learn more about construction careers in their area.

School systems from Western North Carolina have been invited, as well as, all local community colleges and universities.  Over 10 public school systems in Western North Carolina will be participating.

Our region’s construction sector is growing and Construction Career Day will highlight many local career opportunities available in this sector.  There is no charge for admission, this is a free event offered at no cost to employers, job seekers or other attendees.  Follow this event on social media at #constructioncareerday.
