Ticket Info
The 60+ age group is the fastest growing population in Buncombe County.
The Council on Aging of Buncombe County* is planning the first ever county-wide recognition of this active and vibrant population group with an event that is sure to become a legacy in our community. Held at the Top of the Plaza in the Renaissance Hotel in downtown Asheville, members of the public are invited to join us for a morning of festivities and well-deserved acknowledgment of this demographic.
This inaugural event will provide an opportunity for people of all ages to nominate and express gratitude to notable older members of the community, as well as to come together in celebration of their invaluable contributions.
Leading up to the event, Council on Aging will solicit nominations of “standout seniors” from the general public via a tv, radio and print campaign, and in local schools and businesses. Upon hearing their stories, a final group of 10 Champion Medal winners will be awarded at the breakfast. Meanwhile, stories and anecdotes from the nominees will be featured throughout local media outlets, and culminate in a touching commemorative at the breakfast.
A poignant keynote speech will be delivered in the spirit of living life to the fullest, as our Champions certainly have done! This event is an important way for our community to come together to express thanks and bear witness to a generation that has given us a beautiful legacy.
