Buncombe County administrative offices will be closed Dec. 23-24 and Dec. 27 for the Christmas holiday and Dec. 31 for New Year’s Day.
Buncombe County Public Libraries
All Buncombe County Libraries will be closed Dec. 23-27 and Dec. 31 and Jan. 1. (note: Libraries are closed on Sundays and Mondays). The Digital Library is always open to browse thousands of titles.
Buncombe County Recreation Services
Lake Julian & Buncombe County Sports Park are closed (Gates Locked, no staff) on Dec. 24-25 and Jan. 1. All other parks are open as usual, daylight to dark.
Enjoy the Festival of Lights through Dec. 23.
Buncombe County Landfill & Transfer Station
- The Buncombe Landfill and Transfer Station will close at 1 p.m., Friday, Dec. 24
- Landfill and Transfer Station will be closed Saturday Dec. 25
- Landfill and Transfer Station will be closed Saturday, Jan. 1

Waste Pro
Waste Pro waste and recycling collection will operate on a normal Monday-Friday schedule the week of Dec. 20-24
Mountain MobilityMountain Mobility will be closed Dec. 25
Mountain Mobility will only operate ADA Complementary Paratransit services on Dec. 31
Health & Human Services
All BCHHS offices (including the COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic) will be closed Dec 23 – Dec 27 and Friday, Dec 31.

Buncombe County Courthouse
Buncombe County courts observe the North Carolina Judicial Branch Holiday schedule and will be closed Dec. 23, 24, & 27 for the Christmas holiday, and Dec. 31 for New Year’s Day.
Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office
Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office front desk will be closed Dec. 23, 24, 27, and 31, all other operations will be on a normal schedule.
Emergency Services
Administrative offices are closed Dec. 23, 24, 27, and 31. EMS and 911 maintain normal operations.
