Cyclist struck by truck on Merrimon Avenue

Press Release from the Asheville Police Department:

Asheville, NC (July 10, 2023): Asheville Police Department Officers were called to the 40 block of Merrion Avenue, just north of downtown, at 2:00 AM this morning for a report of a Ford pickup truck that had struck a cyclist. The cyclist suffered serious injuries as a result of the collision, but, thankfully, they are not believed to be life-threatening.

The Ford pickup truck was being operated by Joshua Charles Andrews, 34, of Cullowhee. Andrews was charged with Careless & Reckless Driving, Exceeding a Safe Speed, and Driving with No Operator’s License.
