On Sunday, April 8 at approximately 9:00 a.m. Reynolds Volunteer Fire Department Chief Richard Sales was involved in a single car motor vehicle wreck in which he succumbed to his injuries. Chief Sales, 52 years old, served 31 years with Reynolds VFD, with the last 10 years serving as the fire chief. Today Chief Richard Sales will be returning home. The procession will begin at 2:00 p.m. from Baptist Hospital in Wake Forest as Riceville’s ambulance carries Chief Sales, escorted by BC Sheriffs and Reynolds Fire Department personnel, to Anders-Rice Funeral Home off Patton Ave. The estimated arrival time is 4:30 p.m. Local fire apparatus will line the bridge overpasses as the procession enters Buncombe County and travels to the funeral home.
Services for Chief Sales will be held at Biltmore Church located at 35 Clayton Rd in Arden and are as follows:
Visitation: Thursday, April 12th from 5:00-9:00 p.m.
Funeral: Friday, April 13th commencing at 10:00 a.m.Following the services, a procession will take Chief Sales to the cemetery at Gashes Creek Baptist Church located at 308 Gashes Creek Rd in Asheville.
The procession route is as follows:
Leaving Biltmore Church onto Clayton Rd to NC 191 headed north on the Blue Ridge Pkwy, exit Blue Ridge Parkway onto Hwy 74 to Gashes Creek Rd.If the community would like to show their support for the Sales family, Reynolds VFD and friends, it is encouraged to line the procession route to honor the life of Chief Richard Sales.
