Press Release

Diana Wortham Theatre

The Diana Wortham Theatre at Pack Place is pleased to announce that it has received a $1000 grant from Earth Fare benefiting Diana Wortham Theatre’s Youth Education Scholarship (Y.E.S.) Fund. The grant provides funds for 100 children to attend Kid Power’s Operation Lunch Line 3-D performances on Friday, November 15 at 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. as part of the theatre’s Matinee Series for Students and Families.

“The Friends of Earth Fare program seeks to fund programs, such as Kid Power, that are focused on ending childhood obesity by providing kids access to all-natural, healthy food and getting kids active,” noted Earth Fare CEO Jack Murphy.

The Y.E.S. Fund serves thousands of students in Western North Carolina each season and helps make it possible for students to experience arts every year regardless of economic circumstances.

As part of Diana Wortham Theatre’s Matinee Series for Students and Families, Kid Power’s Operation Lunch Line 3-D is a highly interactive musical show designed to help children grades K-6 learn the value of good nutrition and exercise. Using spectacular visual effects in 3-D, the entire audience “shrinks” and takes an amazing journey inside the human body, learning that they are filled with all the “kid power” needed to eat and move properly, to feel great, and to develop the knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviors necessary to make health-enhancing choices. The two performances of Operation Lunch Line 3-D on Friday November 15 are open to school groups, homeschoolers, community groups, and families.
