District Attorney Jeff Hunt Officially Files for Congress

Hunt considered “frontrunner” in crowded field

BREVARD, NC (February 21, 2012) – Today, District Attorney Jeff Hunt, a candidate for the 11th District Republican nomination, made his run for Congress official by filing paperwork with the North Carolina Board of Elections. In a statement at the announcement, Hunt outlined his reasons for running and what his platform will be as the campaign moves toward the May 8th primary.

“I’m running for Congress because we must send representatives to Washington who are serious about reducing the debt and stopping deficit spending. We must regain control of our nation’s finances or we simply won’t have the same country we have known.” said Hunt.

“I want to share my proven record with all 17 counties in the District. I have spent 19 years in the private sector in addition to my 18 years as a prosecutor fighting for Western North Carolina families. Our campaign is built around reducing the debt, restoring our free enterprise economy, and fighting corruption in Washington. I believe I have the experience to tackle the difficult work ahead.”

Hunt continued, saying “I think over the course of this campaign the voters of the 11th District will see that I’m the candidate with the proven record of doing the things we are all talking about. I’ve prosecuted white collar criminals and worked with the General Assembly to pass the Unborn Victims of Violence Act to protect life. I understand small business and I served on the State Board of Economic Development under Governor Jim Martin. This District deserves nothing less than a Congressman that can be trusted with their support to fight on their behalf and that’s what I’ll do if I’m fortunate enough to be elected.”

The national conservative magazine Human Events has labeled Mr. Hunt a frontrunner in the race for the Republican nomination. For more information about Jeff Hunt, please visit www.jeffhuntforcongress.com
