WHO: Dr. J. Drew Lanham is the author of The Home Place: Memoirs of a Colored Man’s Love Affair with Nature, which received the Reed Award from the Southern Environmental Law Center and the Southern Book Prize and was a finalist for the John Burroughs Medal. An Alumni Distinguished Professor of Wildlife Ecology and Master Teacher at Clemson University, Lanham’s research focuses on songbird ecology, as well as the African-American role in natural resources conservation. He was recently awarded the Dan W. Lufkin Prize for Environmental Leadership by the National Audubon Society for his tireless advocacy to protect birds and build a new generation of conservation leaders.
