From US2020 RTP and Innovate NC:
US2020 Research Triangle Park is partnering with Innovate NC to offer the first ever “#RTPi3 Ignite, Innovate, Inspire Challenge.” The essay and video contest is being exclusively offered to 10th-12th grade public school students in Buncombe, Brunswick, New Hanover, Guilford, Robeson, and Wilson counties. US2020 RTP is following Innovate NC’s existing model of intentional focus on developing the STEM economies of Asheville, Greensboro, Pembroke, Wilmington and Wilson. Submissions will be accepted from March 4-April 29 and students will have the chance at a grand prize valued at $2,500.
US2020 is a STEM mentoring outreach program based in Research Triangle Park, NC. Their mission is to expand STEM mentoring and opportunities for engagement to low income, minority and female students. US2020 is a national initiative announced in 2013 by President Barack Obama that seeks to yield greater participation from leading STEM companies and education nonprofits in order to diversify STEM fields.
Innovate NC is an effort that has been launched by the Institute for Emerging issues and nine other statewide partners to develop North Carolina’s future competitiveness and economic growth. By focusing on five communities, Innovate NC is purposefully expanding innovation economies and strengthening the state as a whole.
