WNC TO HOST “ESTEAM” EXPO March 28 at WNC Ag Center

Building Confidence Today for the Careers of Tomorrow

March 5, 2014 – Asheville, NC – The Science House of NCSU, BioNetwork and A-B Tech Community College announce the second annual ESTEAM Expo at the WNC Ag Center in Fletcher, NC.  Scheduled for March 28, 2015, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Expo will be the culminating event of the 2014-2015 week of ESTEAM which has been designed to engage WNC students in ESTEAM related disciplines while demonstrating potential career paths.  The free Expo event will be open to the public, and everyone in the community is invited to participate.

ESTEAM, an acronym for Entrepreneurship, Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics, takes the idea of STEM education a step further, encouraging the cultivation of creative and independent thought processes to foster the next generation of STEM innovators.

Held earlier in the week, the  ESTEAM  Girls  and  Boys  Conferences  are  designed  to  provide  seventh grade  students across  western  North  Carolina the  opportunity to participate  in  an  adult like  conference.  They will experience  hands-on,  informative  sessions  from  local  professionals  working  in  related  ESTEAM fields.  Due to space limitations, these classroom events are by invitation only, with interested schools chosen via lottery and eligibility renewing every three years.

The ESTEAM Expo showcases the work done by students at the conferences as well as the work of our instructors, volunteers, sponsors, and other local organizations working in ESTEAM fields.  This is a fun day of hands-on activities, demonstrations, vendors and more!  Everyone is welcome.  Vendor opportunities are still available.  For more information, visit online at: http://bit.ly/esteam2015, or call Teresa Cowan at 828-418-0011 Ext. 17.
