FIND outdoors announces reopening of Carolina Hemlocks Recreation Area

Press release from FIND Outdoors:

FIND Outdoors is pleased to announce the reopening of the Carolina Hemlocks Restoration Area on April 15, 2025. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 12:00 p.m. on April 15.

Nestled along the South Toe River in Pisgah National Forest, Carolina Hemlocks has long served as a cherished destination for families, anglers and campers. Its reopening marks an important milestone in the recovery of the region following the devastating impacts of Hurricane Helene.

“Hurricane Helene caused substantial damage to this area, including riverbank erosion and debris accumulation,” said Brandon Haman, Director of Campground Operations for FIND Outdoors.  “Restoration efforts in coordination with the US Forest Service and South Toe Conservation Fund, have returned the site to a safe and welcoming area for visitors to enjoy. We’re excited to welcome the public for the 2025 season.”
