Forest Service closes five roads in Pisgah National Forest

PISGAH FOREST, N.C. — The U.S. Forest Service has announced the closing of five roads in Pisgah National Forest to protect the public and resources.

Forest Service officials said freezing and thawing caused soft road conditions that make driving so difficult that people could become stranded.

The closed roads are: Headwaters Road from Davidson River Road to Gumstand Gap; Wolf Ford Road; Avery Creek Road from Pisgah Stables north to Route 276; Bent Creek Road from just after Ledford Branch Trailhead to the Blue Ridge Parkway; and Wash Creek Road from the parkway to the junction of Hendersonville Reservoir Road.

Courthouse Creek and Yellow Gap roads will be closed if conditions deteriorate more.
