Former BCSO Deputy Chad Walker pleads guilty as charged to Solicitation of Prostitution

Press release from Buncombe County District Attorney:

Former Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Chad Drew Walker pleaded guilty to Solicitation of Prostitution last Friday, February 9, 2024, before Judge Calvin Hill in Buncombe County District Court.

Walker was arrested June 22, 2023 in the 100 block of Tunnel Road area in Asheville by the Asheville Police Department. APD was at the hotel assisting Cherokee Indian Police Department officers in making an arrest. Walker was subsequently charged by APD with the offense of Solicitation of Prostitution.

Buncombe County Sheriff Quentin Miller terminated Walker’s employment with the sheriff’s office the same day.

Walker pleaded guilty as charged after entering into a conditional discharge agreement with prosecutors. As a precondition of the agreement, prosecutors required Walker to permanently surrender his law enforcement certification to ensure that he could not be employed by any other agency as a law enforcement officer.

A conditional discharge is a statutory criminal disposition permitting defendants with little or no prior criminal history to plead guilty, “defer further proceedings . . . and [to] place the person on probation for the purpose of allowing the defendant to demonstrate the defendant’s good conduct.” (See: N.C.G.S. 15A-1341(a3)-(a6)).

Judge Hill accepted Walker’s plea and placed him on twelve-months supervised probation. Hill further ordered him to obtain a comprehensive clinical assessment, comply with all treatment recommendations, pay a $100 fine, and pay the costs of court.

If Walker complies with all conditions of probation and successfully completes probation his plea will be withdrawn and the charge will be dismissed.
