Four Asheville streets remain closed Monday morning

Press release from the City of Asheville:

Following 5 inches of relentless rain Friday, more than a dozen Asheville streets were closed over the weekend, including several in Biltmore Village.

On a holiday weekend, Asheville Public Works, Parks and Fire Department crews rolled up their sleeves and went to work, rescuing stranded motorists, barricading roads and cleaning roads once waters receded, following flooding from the Swannanoa and French Broad Rivers. They worked all weekend.

One by one, they got most roads re-opened. But a landslide on Town Mountain damaged two roads that remain closed. Before residents head out to work or school Monday morning, please take note that these roads remain closed and re-route accordingly:

Inglewood Road at Elk Mountain Scenic Highway

Riverside Drive at the railroad trestle

Old Toll Road on Town Mountain

Blue Brier Road, also on Town Mountain
