Four BCSO detention officers test positive for COVID-19

Press release from the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office:

Four detention officers at the Buncombe County Detention Facility have tested positive for COVID-19. They are following standard contact-tracing procedures, and 10 officers with close contact to the positive cases are quarantining as well.

Currently, there are zero detainees with positive tests. And we are not seeing a spread within the detainee population. Further, no detainees have been identified as having close contact with the four detention officers who tested positive. The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office will continue to work closely with staff from Buncombe County Public Health and Buncombe County Employee Health on contact tracing.
