Buncombe County is committed to affirmatively furthering fair housing. Whether you are seeking housing, or are a provider of housing, the public is invited to take part in one or both of upcoming fair housing training sessions happening on Wednesday, May 22 at the Dr. Wesley Grant Sr. Southside Community Center.
Join Legal Aid of North Carolina’s Fair Housing Project, Buncombe County, the City of Asheville, and the Land of Sky Regional Council for two free Fair Housing Requirements and Rights training sessions. Light refreshments will be served.

It is important to recognize and challenge discrimination on all fronts, including housing. Discrimination in housing is taken seriously at every level of government, and it is important to know the protections and resources all people are entitled to nationwide. The North Carolina Fair Housing Act makes it illegal to discriminate in housing because of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, physical or mental handicaps, or family status (families with children). The law applies to the sale, rental, or financing of residential housing.
