With rain likely to continue this weekend, the French Broad River remains in a flood advisory. Southwest of Asheville, near Cruso, crews have been searching for a kayaker reported missing on the Big East Fork of the Pigeon River, where water levels have also been high.
The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg SC has issued
a
* Flood Advisory for the French Broad River in NC at Asheville.* Until Sunday morning.
* At 12 am Saturday the stage was 7.6 feet.
* Bankfull stage is 6.5 feet.
* Flood stage is 9.5 feet.
* Forecast… the river will remain above action stage but slowly fall while going below 6.5 feet Sunday morning. At 7.5 feet… minor flooding in low areas near the river will continue and flooding in Carrier and French Broad River Parks will occurr. Water will also approach Amboy and Lyman streets. Local streams such as Smith Mill creek near Emma street will be at
bankfull.
