Asheville High Band seeks funds for Presidential Inaugural invitation trip

Press release

from Asheville High School Band Booster Association

Under the tutelage of William Talley AHS Band Director, the award winning Asheville High School Band has been invited to perform at the Presidential Inaugural Festival in January 2013. They are the only band in North Carolina to receive such a prestigious invitation. Last fall the Cougar Marching Band received numerous awards in only their 4th year of competitions. Last March the Wind Symphony received its 44th consecutive Superior rating at the NC Music Adjudication.

Their challenge now is to raise the money to pay for the chartered bussed, hotel rooms, food and other expenses for the 115 band members, 2 Directors, 1 principle, and 12 chaperones – a cost estimated at (Between) $85,000-$90,000.

The Band Booster Association has begun contacting local businesses and corporate sponsors for help. With such an enormous amount and a very short time to raise it in, we need your help in getting our message out. Just being invited is a success in its self but the trip can’t happen if we don’t raise the funds.

Our biggest Fundraising Event is the 5k WALK/RUN/MARCH being held November 10th at Carrier Park on Amboy Road. The cost per runner is $25.00 with a youth run for children 10 and under for $10.

We have a web site if individuals or companies want to contribute. All contributions are tax deductible and will be applied directly to the trips expenses. Information about the race can be accessed there as well
Checks may be made out to AHSBA and mailed to PO Box 1945, Asheville, NC 28802. Please feel free to contact me directly at or call me, Janet Everson at 828-423-6562.
